Is it really the last day of 2007?  Who knew time could just get faster???  So I suppose a brief recap and look ahead is in order.  Looking back this year was an "eh" year of running for me.  I spent a good portion of the first half of the year recovering from the mystery calf injury. I had one PR (the 5k) out of 13 races and missed my goal time for the marathon (at least I wasn't in Chicago...).  I ran 1391 miles this year which is in line with what I ran last year and I had next to no mileage the first two to three months of the year!

So what now?

  • I'd like to be able to race more this year.  Sure, I was entered in 13 races but between the injury and marathon I held back a lot.  I'm definitely shooting for Broad Street again this year to kick off the season (it's crowded but it's my town!).  Other than that, the year is wide open.  I'm not sure what distances I'd like to concentrate on in 2008.  I'd still like to see what I can do in the half marathon.  I'm thinking about looking at Philly 08 and use the Philly Distance Run as a gauge of where I stand.  It'd be far enough away to all out race it...
  • Cross training!  In 2005 and 2006, I ran smarter.  I think in 07 I had way too much junk mileage.  I'd much rather throw out those miles completely and throw in strength training and biking instead.  Get stronger!

As for other aspects in life?  Continue my career growth.  I'll be doing a few things in the first quarter of the year which should help continue that path.

And what else?  Have fun.  When it comes down to it, that's what you should be doing.

2008.  You ready?
